Steel That Holds.
Second Generation.

Ironwake has been welding on Airport Rd since Hal Ironwake opened the doors in 1988. His daughter Delia runs it now — AWS D1.1 and D1.2 certified, with a mobile rig dispatched around the clock for equipment that has stopped working.

The shop

Hal’s Shop, Delia’s Hood

Hal Ironwake opened this shop in 1988 with a stick machine, a torch set and a bank loan he was not entirely sure about. He spent thirty years welding for strawberry growers, packing houses and anyone on the I-4 corridor who needed steel put back together.

Delia took over in 2016. She grew up sweeping this floor, went and got her AWS D1.1 certification on her own terms, added D1.2 for aluminum when the marine work started coming in from the bay, and brought Ruben Ortiz in as the second welder. Five people work here now.

What has not changed is the part Hal cared about: you get told the truth about your steel. If a bracket is going to crack again in the same place, we tell you before we weld it, not after.

How it works

From phone call to finished weld

You call or send photos

Tell us the material, the part and whether it can travel. A photo of the failure answers most of our questions before we ask them.

We quote it honestly

A real price and a real timeline. If a repair will not hold, we say so and quote the replacement instead of taking the easier job.

Shop or mobile rig

Bench work comes to Airport Rd. Anything too big, too heavy or too broken to move gets the truck, day or night.

Finished and documented

Cleaned, coated where it needs it, photographed for your records, and inspected where the job calls for a CWI sign-off.

Reviews

What people say

4.8 average from 92 reviews across Plant City, Lakeland and Brandon.

“Tool bar snapped at five in the morning in the middle of picking. Delia had a rig in the field before seven and we didn’t lose the day. She also put a gusset on the other side so it wouldn’t do it again.”
Marcus T. Plant City, FL
“Three shops told me my trailer tongue was scrap. Ruben cut the cracked section out, built a new gusset and re-galvanized the whole repair. Two seasons later it hasn’t moved.”
Janelle P. Brandon, FL
“They rebuilt the corroded legs on my T-top and explained why it happened — stainless bolts straight into aluminum. Put isolating washers in the whole thing. First time anyone actually told me the cause.”
Andre W. Valrico, FL
“Did our mezzanine and stair rail. Drawings went to our engineer, the inspector signed everything off first pass, no rework. Scheduling ran a week long but the steel was right.”
Kim S. Lakeland, FL
Recent work

Look at the beads

The gallery has a before-and-after of a trailer frame that came in cracked clean through the tongue gusset, plus a run of recent jobs — a poling platform, a packing house catwalk, a rebuilt loader bucket and a stair rail that finally passed inspection.

We photograph work because it is the only honest way to show a welding shop’s standard. Anyone can claim a clean weld.
